Longford Town FC is delighted to announce that Jack McCarthy has signed for the 2024 season.
A goalkeeper, the 20-year-old played with Drogheda United’s U17 team in 2019. He went on to the club’s U19 side and also made the senior match day squad before leaving in February 2021 to join Shelbourne. Jack made his league debut for Shels in a 0-0 draw with UCD at the Belfield Bowl on 6 August 2021. He played in America for Cumberland Phoenix, picking up player of the week multiple times for the collegiate side.
He bolsters Stephen Henderson’s defensive options now with three Jacks, (Brady and Harrington) all vying for the number one spot.
