Following a number of enquiries from Longford Town supporters on the damage caused by Storm Eowyn to the front wall at Bishopsgate Stadium, the club would like to advise all of the current situation:
Since the storm damage that caused the collapse of the front wall, the club has been actively attempting to secure grant funding from various sources. To date we have not received any official notification of any contribution from any external source. We have been informed unofficially that there will be some funding made available from the UEFA disaster fund but this fund has been oversubscribed with applications and the final amount that is available for Longford Town FC has not yet been advised to the club. It is clear that when we receive a confirmation of funding from the UEFA disaster fund, there will be a significant shortfall on what will be required to rebuild the wall and we will need considerable additional funding. There is no other indication that funding will be received from any other scheme for this project at this time. Our insurance does not cover this event.
The club would like to thank Longford Town Supporters Club for the initiative they have taken in setting up a fund raising page on iDonate for the rebuilding of the wall. The club would also like to thank all the people who have made contributions on that forum, both the Longford Town supporters and supporters from other clubs around the League of Ireland and further afield. All support is greatly appreciated and will be required to repair the wall and to get Bishopsgate Stadium back to its full capacity.Β
