Chris Lyons Signs for 2024!

Longford Town FC is delighted to annouce that Chris Lyons has signed for the 2024 season.

The vastly experienced 30 year old striker played 30 times for Bray Wanderers last season, scoring 9 and getting 2 assists.

With over 300 LOI appearances, Lyons had spells with Sligo Rovers, Shelbourne, Shamrock Rovers, Bohemians, UCD, Bray and Drogheda United, he has scored 74 times with 32 assists in total.

Speaking to LTFC.ie upon signing for De Town, Lyons revelaed what convinced him to join up with Stephen Henderson for the 2024 season.

From my first conversation with Hendo, I knew he was a genuine man and his hopes for the club are very realistic and he believed in everything he said. Also being faithful to a large number of players from last years squad meant that players loved playing under him and he was loyal to them. He knows what sort of player I am and I think both of us will get the best out of each other.

On being one of the more senior players in a mixed squad (so far), the Dubliner relished the idea of helping the younger players in the season ahead;

Yeah there is a great blend of both experience and younger players which will be great for the team and club going forward. As a person and a player, I like to bond with both younger and older players in my career, I’ve been around some great teams, players and managers in the past so if I can help any player in anyway I’ll be there for my team mates. I can’t wait to get going and give my all for this great club.
