Match Preview | Town v Treaty

by Aaron Kelly

Two sides that have certainly seen an uptake in form in the last couple of weeks, Treaty United make the trip up to Bishopsgate to face Longford Town in a huge game in the League of Ireland first division. After a tough transitional period under new manager Stephen Henderson at the beginning of this season, Town now have two wins on the bounce and looking to make it consecutive home wins for the first time this season. The last home outing for Town sent shock waves through the division as Henderson’s side managed to overcome the runaway league leaders Galway United thanks to a brilliant first half goal from Mo Boudiaf.

Following this was Longford Town’s first ever trip to Mounthawk Park to face Kerry FC who despite making it uncomfortable for De Town, were unable to claim their first win in the LOI as Longford made it back to back wins with a 3-2 victory thanks to goals from Stephen Meaney, Shane Elworthy, and an own goal from Matthew Keane.

The visitors Treaty United have also begun to put a nice run of results going following a slow start to the 2023 season. They’re currently on a run of 3 wins on the bounce, scoring 9 and conceding only once in the process, it truly does feel like the tide is starting to turn for Tommy Barrett’s Treaty, whose fans will certainly be hoping their side can start looking upwards towards the play offs, rather than keeping an eye on the teams behind them.

With the horizons beginning to look a lot rosier for both of these sides, it’s sure to be an interesting encounter and hopefully an entertaining affair between 2 teams that should be on a high in terms of confidence in front of an expectant Bishopsgate.
