Longford Town FC is delighted to announce the signing of Gary Armstrong to the club.
The 27 year old Sligo man spent time with his hometown club Sligo Rovers, Ballinamallard and Athlone Town.
The midfielder was part of the Sligo Rovers u19 squad for the 2013/2014 season and he broke into the first team in September 2014 when he made his senior debut against Bohemians at the Showgrounds. He scored two goals in 7 appearances over the final weeks of the 2014 season and signed his first professional contract with the club ahead of the 2015 season.
In the 2016 season and went out on loan to Ballinamallard United in August 2016, while also signing a new contract at Sligo for the 2017 season. He made his league bow for them against Ballymena United on 13 August and made 8 league appearances for them over a two-month spell.
Gary returned to Sligo for the 2017 season but in September of that year he returned to Ballinamallard on a permanent deal.
He spent last season with our neighbours Athlone Town.
