Following two away games, Longford welcomed Galway United in their first home fixture of the new season. The visitors started the better off the two sides & had a couple of early long range efforts that Dylan Mc Goey was well equal too in the town goal. Town grew into it though as both sides had good spells throughout the first half.

Daryl Carrigy tested the Galway keeper with a looping header then Karl Chambers forced the netminder into a wonderful save low to his right with a stinging 20 hard hit as the home side ended the half on top. Second period was an open affair early in with both sides pushing to Break the dead lock. Galway had what seemed like an endless amount of corners but never created anything clear cut.

The longer the game went the more likely the home side looked to grabbing a winner. Ryan Carberry hit the cross bar after a deflected shot whilst Cian Fay done well to keep his left foot drive down but again the Galway keeper wasn't to be beaten as both sides took a share of the spoils.

"I think we did enough to win the game but we didn't take our chances when they came and to be fair to there keeper he made some good saves. Very pleased with the performance though particularly second half. Again we looked very well organised and didn't give away many chances. We made 5 changes to the starting XI from last week & we performed just as well so that's very pleasing. We are improving every game & the lads are working extremely hard and that's all we can ask."
