Supporters’ Club Notes (24/04/17)

Mon Apr 24th 2017

Our last car boot sale on Easter Monday was an outstanding success. A huge and sincere thank you to the small band of volunteers who make such a huge difference. This Monday, May 1st is another Bank Holiday and therefore another car boot sale at the City Calling Stadium car park. It kicks off very early in the morning before the final whistle sounds at 3pm. The June bank holiday car boot sale is obviously just a month away too. Once again, if you have some spare time Liam Healion would love to hear from you, give him a shout at this week-end's game.

We're certainly in the thick of things regarding matches these days and they're coming quick and fast. Following two quick goals down in Cobh, we had to make the long return trip empty handed and now we find ourselves back down at second from bottom. However, this Saturday night we have a chance to leapfrog again if we beat Athlone for the third time this season. Kick off is 7.30pm at the City Calling Stadium. The usual Supporters' Club photographer can't be present but I'm sure you won't miss him too much. Then on Tuesday May 2nd we travel to the Tallaght Stadium to play Shamrock Rovers in the quarter finals of the EA Sports Cup. Thankfully common sense prevailed and our Friday night game against high fliers Cabinteely has been rescheduled for Saturday May 6th with a 7.00pm kick off. No easy fixtures in the above list but hopefully we can continue our good form against Athlone and then shock the Hoops before leaving Stradbrook with all three points. No harm in being optimistic!

Thanks to Avril Gilchrist, Sinead Keegan and Mary Sexton King we've some cracking value for anyone joining the Supporters' Club. The Supporters' Club has recently set up its own Facebook page. The name is very simple, just type Longford Town FC Supporters Club and away you go. It'll be brimful of offers, updates, the notes and of course some golden olden photos which will be updated regularly.

The April Player of the Month award will be made at the next home game which will be against Waterford on 13th May. The recipient will be know after Saturday night's game.
