The Longford Town Under 19's suffered a four-nil defeat at Bishopsgate on Sunday, as goals from Mark McFadden, McGerald Woma, Orin McLaughlin and Mattie Walker secured all three points for the visitors.
The Candystripes took the lead on 9 minutes when the towering Mark McFadden headed home from Orin McLaughlin's right-wing corner.
Longford Town skipper Sam Barnes almost equalised on 26 minutes when he intercepted a clearance from Derry centre-half Dean Corrigan but his low twenty-five yard shot whistled narrowly wide.
Just after the half-hour mark, the home side won a free-kick after Town striker Aaron McCabe was fouled by City defender Caoimhin Porter.
Town Midfielder Jack Doyle shaped to cross but then tried to catch out the keeper Ruadhan McKenna at his near post with a disguised snap shot, however, the Derry stopper was alert enough to make a save.
In the 35th minute, the impressive Derry striker McGerald Woma ran onto a long pass, jinked one way then the other past his marker before forcing a low, crisp shot that produced a fine save from Longford keeper Thomas Scahill.
Longford had a great opportunity to score in the early stages of the second half only for a Barnes strike from sixteen yards out being blocked on the line by a Derry defender.
The visitors doubled their lead on 57 minutes when Woma ran onto a pass over the Town defence, then powered his way past home defender Aidan Mooney before cleverly lifting the ball over the advancing Town keeper Scahill into the net.
Derry won a penalty on 73 minutes as Town keeper Scahill clipped Rona McAleer inside the box while attempting to make a clearance.
The Town had a lucky escape as Porter fired wide from the spot.
The reprieve didn't last long however as the Candystripes scored their third goal a minute later.
Good play by Woma resulted in McLaughlin getting the better of his marker and he despatched the ball past Scahill into the net to make it three-nil.
Six minutes from time, Derry completed the scoring when Mattie Walker side-footed home from close range from Liam Mullen's right sided cross.
