It is the final home game of the SSE Airtricity League First Division 2017 as Longford Town host Wexford FC at the City Calling Stadium. Kick-off at the Strokestown Road venue is at the different time of 7.45pm.
With not a lot riding on the game for Longford Town, apart from a potential 5th place finish, Wexford can confirm a 7th place finish by avoiding defeat in the Midlands which would leave Longford Town's Midlands rivals ending the season bottom.
Speaking ahead of the game with LTFC.ie, defender Tristan Noack-Hofmann has said that he is hoping to finish the season off on a positive note.
“It’s the last game of the season and we’ll want to finish on a high in front of a home crowd and get one last win under our belts before the end of the season. It’s going to be a good occasion for the people around. Hopefully we get a win and see what happens then. It’ll be good to end the season off on a positive note and then we will see what happens next year.”
Recent clashes have gone in De Town's favour as we are currently unbeaten over Wexford FC so far this season. Last time at the City Calling Stadium, Town were comprehensive 5-0 winners over Damian Locke’s men with a brace from midfielder Dean Zambra being one of the many highlights.
Last time out, Town were edged out by Waterford FC 1-0 at the RSC through a late 81st minute winner from Davy McDaid. The game was played a week after Waterford’s confirmation as First Division Champions.
Wexford will be without Ross Kenny who is missing through a suspension.
On the other hand, there are no players on the suspension list for Longford Town.
After the game, be sure to get down to the Longford Arms Hotel for the Supporters Club End of Season Awards where the Player of the Season will be announced.
