CAR BOOT SALE
A huge thank you to all the volunteers who helped out at the May Day Car Boot Sale. Sometimes, a mere thank you seems trivial and this is one of those times. When volunteers leave their cosy beds at 4.30am on a bank holiday morning to help support De Town , then that sort of volunteerism is simply beyond a simple “thank you”. If the Irish soccer team are supposed to have the best supporters in Europe, then surely De Town have the best volunteers. The revenue from the Bank Holiday car boot sales is vital for the running of the club and it goes without saying that the volunteers are therefore vital for the club. Well done one and all on your fabulous behind the scenes work.
Three valuable goals from Enda Curran meant three invaluable points as we again defeated Athlone Town. Not only did Enda's hat-trick gain us three precious points but it also had us jump up to a more credible fifth place in the league and just one point behind Cabinteely. On Saturday, May 6th we play Cabinteely in Stradbrook with a 7.00pm kick off time. By all accounts, the playing surface leaves a lot to be desired but should we come away with three more points, we won't be complaining as a win would see us leapfrog our hosts. With Cobh rambling to the top of the league at the weekend, suddenly the league becomes very interesting. May could be a fascinating month yet.
PLAYER OF THE MONTH / APRIL
Heartiest congratulations to Enda Curran who has been nominated April's Player of the Month. With five goals bagged (and all at home) during a particularly fruitful month, he's surely a deserving winner. We hadn't seen a home win in the longest time, but Enda's strikes put an end to that unwanted miserable statistic. Desi Maguire will be making the presentation to Enda Curran before the game against UCD on Saturday, May 13th.
