Longford Town are delighted to announce that Tony Cousins has accepted the job of Manager of the Senior team at the club for next season. A meeting of the executive committee of Longford Town FC held on Wednesday made the decision that it was in the best interests of the Club to reappoint Tony Cousins for another year.
Chairman Jim Hanley said “We are delighted to have Tony back on board for another year. There has been a lot of positives in the last season especially considering all the setbacks that occurred during the year. Tony has built a young team that play an exciting, entertaining style of football, we came very close to getting promoted, just pipped at the post. We need to have continuity and Tony can provide that.”
With the hard work of the executive committee, sponsors and supporters and with Tony’s guidance on the playing side of things, the club has achieved stability and made steady progress in recent years. The intention is to continue in this vein.
At this point the Committee would also like to acknowledge the tremendous support given by the local community in recent games especially during the playoffs. For the past month it has been fantastic to see a group of young players represent Longford Town FC with a passion not seen in years and play a very attacking, attractive style of football.
All at the Club are already looking forward to the 2014 season and work has already begun behind the scenes to ensure that all is in place to give Tony and his team every opportunity to strive for promotion. 2014 is the 90th anniversary of Longford Town foundation so it would be a good year to win a place back in the top flight!
Meanwhile all supporters have the opportunity in the coming weeks to help keep LTFC in good stead by supporting upcoming events:
(1) Annual Awards night on Nov. 15th at the ‘Sin Bin’ Longford,
