Waterford at home this Saturday

Fri Mar 23rd 2012

The big games keep on coming for Longford Town and this Saturday at 7.30p.m they host Waterford Utd in a top of the table clash. The Town go into the game on the back of three wins from three and manager Tony Cousins knows that it will take every effort if the Town are to maintain their perfect start to the campaign.

‘I watched Waterford in their recent win over Limerick and was impressed. They had their opening day set back but I wouldn’t read too much into that and they are a very hard working outfit’ said Cousins.

It’s the first time in a number of years that the home team have begun the season this impressively and Cousins knows the importance of momentum at this stage of the season. ‘Our team is still continuing to gel at this point because there are a number of the lads who only joined us in the off season. If we can continue to pick up wins while that happens it’s a great thing. One aspect that definitely helps us is the support of the crowd, they were great during the win over Athlone and if we can hold our position near the top of the table we’d hope that they keep coming and giving us that same level of support’.

The game kicks off at 7.30 on Saturday and Longford Town would encourage all our fans to come out and help keep our encouraging start to the season going.
