While acknowledging the fantastic interest from the National media in our recent press launch to announce details of the Club's new sponsorship deal with the City Calling Group, Longford Town FC wish to correct false and misleading information regarding the financial aspect of the deal which appeared in the Irish Daily Star and Irish Daily Mirror newspapers on Friday Feb 22nd. In a joint statement, LTFC Chairman Jim Hanley and City Calling Group Managing Director Phil Munnelly state the following:
We wish to confirm that the sponsorship deal between the City Calling Group and Longford Town FC involves a substantial six figure sum. We want to reassure Longford Town Supporters that this deal is a substantial one for the club and will help to ensure its financial stability for the coming years. While we are delighted with the support from the media towards our new venture, we are very disappointed with the misinformation on the financial side of the deal included in the articles in some of Friday's national papers. While it is in no one's interests to publicly disclose the full details of the deal, we are both satisfied that it will be most beneficial to both parties.
We look forward to welcoming all our supporters to the City Calling Stadium on Saturday night for our friendly game with Shelbourne.
