A difficult league opener for the town as we played out a goalless draw against Shels tonight.
A missed penalty in the first half for Longford Town by David O'Sullivan had Shels counting their blessings but some clear cut chances before and after the break had the traveling town fans optimistic for a win.
Don Cowan went off with a knock in the first half and was replaced by our new singing from UCD, Mark Langtry, who made his debut for the town tonight. Noel Haverty went off in the second half with a knock also and was replaced by Rhys Gorman in central defence.
Many a chance came Longford's way in the second half and Shels had a goal cleared off the line but it just wasn't to be for either side as the match ended scoreless.
