Preview by Tony Ghee

This Saturday night, Longford Town host Wexford FC at the City Calling Stadium with the game kicking-off at 7.30pm.

Last season, Longford Town won three of their four league meetings with the other encounter ending in a 0-0 draw. The three Town wins included a 2-1 away victory at Ferrycarrig Park, and 1-0 and 5-0 victories at the City Calling Stadium.

In the opening series, Wexford recorded a 1-0 victory away to Cabinteely courtesy of Eoin Porter’s 39th minute strike, while Neale Fenn’s Longford Town had to settle for a 2-2 draw at home to Cobh Ramblers despite leading two-nil at half time with Chris Mulhall and Captain Dean Zambra on the mark for the ‘Red and Black’.

On the team news front, pre-season signing Andy O’Reilly has departed the club while versatile left-sided player Alan Kehoe will miss the next few games as he went over on his ankle during Tuesday night’s training session.
