A very good crowd attended the club dinner dance last saturday night in the Sin Bin,Longford Rugby Club. A minutes silence was held for ex-Town committee member Dennis Dowd and Supporters Club Chairman, Brendan Turner who both passed away over the last year. A special presentation was made by Liam Healion and Johnny Nevin from the Longford Town Supporters Club to Alan Kirby for his lengthy service with us and to wish him well in his retirement. His wife Caitriona got a bouquet of flowers as well.
Goal of the Season was for Collie James' effort in Lissywollen against Athlone Town. He wasn't there so Mark Salmon went up and accepted it on his behalf.
The Player of the Season award went to Keith Gillespie. Tony Cousins and Longford Town FC chairman Jim Hanley both gave speeches.
Keith Gillespie and Noel Haverty also got a award from the club for making the First Division Team of the Year.
Under 19 Player of the Year went to Stephen Boateng.
Many thanks to Longford Rugby Club for the beautiful meal and to President Felix for providing the music and went down a storm with the crowd. Also a massive thanks to Andy Dardis for his superb organisation and hardwork in getting the dinner dance night right and flowing well.
