Longford Town is pleased to announce that newly signed under 19 player Keith Beirne has been named in the squad for the match away to Derry City on Friday 31st July.
The 18 year old defender from Mohill, Co. Leitrim is the latest local lad to come up through the ranks of the club’s underage structure.
Manager Tony Cousins said “Keith has really impressed and is showing great potential. He will be in the squad for the Derry match and we are hopeful that he is going to develop into a great player.”
Tony Cousins also paid tribute to Willie Tyrrell who is leaving the club by mutual agreement. “Willie has been a fantastic servant to the club for the last three seasons and the entire team wish him the best in his new adventure and thank him for being a great team player and a fantastic footballer.”
Willie will be joining his neighbours Wexford Youths for the rest of the season.
Longford Town FC wish to thank Willie and wish him well and hopefully we will see him again soon at The City Calling Stadium.
