Longford Town v SD Galway to be rescheduled.

Euro 2012 Song for Flancare

While Saturday night will be a huge night for the Town as they attempt to get back to winning ways, there is also another reason to come out to Flancare Park.  Visitors will be treated to a performance of the Euro 2012 song Eire Abu by Dualtach.

This Euro 2012 song is becoming very popular among Ireland supporters and was recently featured on the John Murray Show on RTE1.

Speaking to ltfc.ie prior to his performance, Dualtach said that Longford Town was a great community club.  He expected them to be back in the Premier Division next season.  “You can’t beat the atmosphere in the League Of Ireland clubs.  The supporters sing and everyone gets involved, we’re looking forward to having the craic with the Longford supporters getting behind us in the chorus of Éire Abú.”

For a sneak peak at the song check out the links below and be ready to join in at half time on Saturday.

MUtv to visit on Saturday night

Longford Town will play host to a special guest on Saturday night with the visit on MUtv, the official television channel of Manchester United.

The visit relates to an upcoming programme on their former star and current Longford Town favourite Keith Gillespie. As part of their visit they will be recording the game with Mervue Utd as well as talking to the man himself on his time with Utd and of course his time with the Town.

They will also be talking to some Longford fans on what it is like to have the one time Utd hero strutting his stuff for our local club. So to give him the support he deserves and to have a chance of appearing on the TV why not come out and sing some songs of support for the Town and for Keith.

HARPS BREAK HEARTS

All good things come to an end sometime, and for the Town supporters, last Saturday night was that time. Finn Harps failed to beat us all last season so, was it any wonder both their team and supporters were in flying form after their 1-3 win at Flancare. The only consolation is that we’re still top of the league, even if by the more slender of margins.

U19 Airtricity League: Longford Town 0 – 2 Finn Harps

Report by: Rachael McKeon

After knocking Finn Harps out of the Airtricity U19 National Cup earlier in the season Longford Town travelled to Finn Park on Sunday not only in search of their second win in the league but also to stop the home side wrapping up the league title. Longford set about thwarting Harps ambitions in the right way by applying pressure on the home side from the kick off.

GREAT GOOD FRIDAY

Good Friday was transformed into a great Friday following our wonderful 1-2 win against Limerick. It was a game the locals were looking forward to with relish and over 1,200 fans turned up to watch the two top teams do battle. Following the meagre attendance in Galway the previous week, it was a pleasant change to be part of a long line of expectant fans queuing up to enter the quaint Jackman Park, in the heart of Limerick city.
