On Friday evening Longford Town were the visitors to the RSC in Waterford where they were looking to extend their lead at the top of the Airtricity League First Division and to keep their unbeaten away run going. As the game began there seemed to be a nervy feel amongst the 700 or so supporters in attendance and this seemed to have affected the players somewhat as it took some time for this game to get going.

Longford Town U19’s finished out their season on Saturday at home to Cup finalists Dundalk. Things could have started better for the Town when minutes before kickoff their keeper Conor Devlin injured himself in the warm up and was unable to take part in the game. This resulted in striker Paddy Cheevers stepping up and going between the posts not for the first time this season.

After knocking Finn Harps out of the Airtricity U19 National Cup earlier in the season Longford Town travelled to Finn Park on Sunday not only in search of their second win in the league but also to stop the home side wrapping up the league title. Longford set about thwarting Harps ambitions in the right way by applying pressure on the home side from the kick off.
