By lifelong Town fan, Cathal McGuinness
Saturday brought an end to another season with The Town finishing 5th (4th really, Shelbourne got 2 points by default). The planning for next season will begin straight away for Neale Fenn with a few players coming & a few going. Unfortunately one almost certainly going is Kildare man & former underage international Noel Haverty due to work commitments.
Noel has been one of my favourite Town players in his almost 6 seasons with us.
He put his head in places where most wouldn't put their boot and he gave 100% & more in every game. When Noel entered the pitch he was ready to go to war, and more times than not he was patched up so he could play. Anyone that thinks a non local doesn't give the same as a local should look at Noel!
On behalf of myself (& all Town fans I'm sure), I'd like to thank Noel & wish him well in life, work & sport.
I think Clane has been pretty good to Longford with Glenn Ryan also from there, and he too is fondly remembered here in Longford! Best of luck Noel!
